To stay with children this hotel is wonderful. It has a good, clean green with a nice kids' park, and from the houses you can see the children play. The green is only accessible through the back of the houses or hotel, so it's very safe. It also has an indoor pool and an outdoor pool, all close by. The areas of the house are quite good. Very quiet location.

However, some things went very wrong. We stayed five in a t1 and the fifth bed was, after all, a very uncomfortable sofa-bed with a mattress that was thin as paper. We were five but only had cutlery, dishes etc for 4. The stove only half worked. No toaster. We had been told there was a football field (sorry, is that what it is?) and tennis courts but these are 600m away, in another facility. No-one knew tennis was paid by the hour (as was snooker, only ping-pong was free). On one day we spent the morning with a stink of manure as the fields around were being treated, and then after that came a multitude of flies to fill the houses. The outdoor pool had a frog and too much filth to be used (though we had been told over the phone it was working). The worst is that neither pool has any sort of guard or fence, a little kid could just fall in. There was also a problem with the price because bookings.com gave us one price for 5 in a t1 and they had another, more expensive one - lack of communication? We did relax, because the kids were so happy, but all these details make us wonder if we'll ever go back.

We got a good value for money deal, the appartments are good size with a nice terrace to the garden.

Chose the hotel because it offers appartments, we were a group of 3 travelling together.

Appartment smelled of smoking inside. Bathroom looked a bit shabby. Bed for 3rd person was below the staircase (maybe fun for a kid but not for an adult) or alternatively there was a sleeping sofa with a very thin mattress. Breakfast wasn´t 4 star adequate.

The Villas Do Lago are situated reasonably close to beach in a quite location, just a short drive from Peniche and Consolacao (and an hour from Lisbon). Easy parking outside the Villas. The staff were polite and helpful. Overall the Villas Do Lago offered good value for money and we would visit again.

Villas Do Lago were not signposed anywhere but are in fact a part of the Atlantico Golfe Hotel - this was not clear in our documentation. On arrival we found the apartment floor was not clean and some of the facilities are showing their age.
